Company: Unity House, Troy
Watershed: LaLiberte's mother, Linda MacLeod, encouraged her passion for sewing.
Later on in life, her husband bought her a sewing machine as a wedding present.
She worked for nonprofits in various development capacities.
Her love of sewing came to light again while pregnant. Knowing she was having a girl, she searched for unique girl clothes, but without any luck.
LaLiberte wanted her own business, offering black dresses for girls. She studied at the Rensselaer Entrepreneurial Program, attended a trade show, and last summer, opened Style for Grace, named after her daughter Grace, an online children's clothing business at http://www.styleforgrace.com.
Quote: ``My childhood memories in my mother's sewing room coupled with the birth of my daughter are the primary catalysts for launching my business. My mother's technical expertise is the heart of Style for Grace and without her, my business wouldn't be a reality.''
